“People think indigenous people are poor or ignorant, that they don’t have any education. They don’t think that there are (indigenous) people who also study … That was what it was … The reality is more difficult … For example, when I was working there or here too, I have to argue with businesses about technical matters and (many times) with men…It is always difficult for me to tell them that something is wrong…It was that…They see me as a woman, dressed as an Otavaleña, that I don’t speak English well. Just like that, they say, ‘What is she going to know?’ These were difficult things.”
